About
We built Surfboard Rack Co. because finding a good surfboard rack turned out to be harder than it should be.
Between us, we have spent our lives surfing. We care about how boards are stored because boards are not just equipment. They are shaped objects, often expensive, often personal, and they tend to live in spaces that matter. For a long time, that did not concern us. Racks were something you hid in a shed.
That changed when one of us finally settled in one place and wanted a rack that could live inside the house. What followed was frustration. The options were scattered across the internet. Prices varied wildly. Most designs were basic, overbuilt, or visually careless. Comparison was almost impossible, and the few racks that looked acceptable were either expensive or poorly thought through.
Building one from scratch was not straightforward either. The hardware choices were unclear. The geometry was rarely explained. Most DIY solutions relied on whatever materials happened to be nearby, which worked, but aged badly.
So we stepped back and asked a simpler question: what would a good rack look like if it were designed properly from the start?
One of us approaches problems by tinkering and refining. The other is analytical, technically minded, and comfortable turning ideas into repeatable systems. Together, we focused on three things that were consistently missing: a sound mounting geometry, the right hardware chosen once and chosen properly, and clear explanations for why some solutions fail over time.
Surfboard Rack Co. is the result.
We are not a big manufacturer. We are not a dropshipping brand. We are not interested in selling trend-driven objects or locking people into a single aesthetic. Instead, we built a standardised mounting system and a kit that removes the guesswork, so you can build a rack that fits your space and choose materials that suit how you live.
Alongside that, we are building a directory that brings surfboard rack designs into one place. Not to tell you what to buy, but to let you see the landscape clearly and understand the trade-offs.
Our aim is simple: make it easier to build a surfboard rack that looks right, works properly, and holds up over time.
